Can VR glasses save VR?

Meta unveiled its $1,299 Meta VR Glasses at Connect 2026, positioning them as a hybrid between traditional opaque VR headsets and transparent AR glasses. Weighing roughly 100 grams—about one‑fifth the mass of conventional headsets—the devices aim to deliver a more comfortable, everyday‑wearable experience. Reviewers, including The Verge’s Sean Hollister, compared them side‑by‑side with Valve’s Steam Frame, Apple’s Vision Pro, and Xreal’s Aura, noting that the Meta glasses combine lightweight form factor with a “best‑of‑both‑worlds” visual pipeline that blurs the line between virtual immersion and augmented overlay. While the price remains steep for many consumers, it undercuts the Vision Pro’s $3,700 tag and promises a new entry point for mainstream users who have previously found VR hardware cumbersome or visually intrusive.

💡 By marrying true‑VR immersion with glasses‑like ergonomics, Meta could finally break the comfort barrier that has kept casual consumers away from virtual reality.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra vs Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra: The difference…

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra, its latest flagship tablet, positioned alongside last year’s Tab S11 Ultra. Both devices share a 14.6‑inch AMOLED screen, a thin glass chassis, and a focus on media consumption and productivity. The S12 Ultra represents an iterative upgrade, with no noticeable exterior redesign and only modest internal changes. Notably, Samsung removed the remote‑control feature for the S Pen that was present on the S11 Ultra, and the new model does not differ visually from the Tab S8 Ultra released four years earlier. The review highlights that the real distinction lies in the hardware under the hood, prompting consumers to assess whether the incremental performance gains justify replacing a still‑capable predecessor.

💡 The S12 Ultra’s marginal improvements force buyers to weigh brand loyalty against the cost of upgrading a device that already meets most high‑end tablet needs.

Apple’s home hub isn’t what you think it is

Apple is poised to launch a new smart‑home hub, tentatively called HomePad, on October 13. The device will feature a 6‑inch square display, a metal base with perforated speaker holes, and a polished arm that mounts to a countertop, echoing the iMac G4 design. Powered via USB‑C, it will run a custom OS blending iPhone StandBy widgets, Apple Watch‑style screens, and Apple TV media functions. The hub will integrate Siri AI for voice and facial recognition, tailoring the interface to each household member’s calendar, notes, and media. A wall‑mounted variant is also rumored.

💡 Apple’s entry into the smart‑home market could redefine how consumers interact with home automation, positioning Siri as the central voice assistant across devices. The hub’s personalized, AI‑driven interface signals a shift toward more integrated, user‑centric home ecosystems.

AMD’s new ‘Gainsborough’ APU rumoured to be the chip that powers the…

Valve’s anticipated Steam Deck 2 is rumored to be powered by a new AMD APU codenamed Gainsborough, following the original Deck’s Aerith chip. Sources from the YouTube channel Moore’s Law is Dead suggest the processor will use TSMC’s advanced N3P fabrication node, promising higher efficiency and potentially better battery life. Valve has stated that the second‑generation handheld should represent a significant leap in performance, not just incremental gains. The Gainsborough APU could deliver the necessary power boost while maintaining portable endurance.

💡 A more efficient, high‑performance chip could redefine handheld gaming, offering longer play sessions without sacrificing graphics quality.
