The film Verity has opened in theaters, starring Anne Hathaway as bestselling author Verity Crawford and Dakota Johnson as struggling writer Lowen Ashleigh. The plot follows Lowen’s accidental encounter with a blood‑stained cyclist, leading her to a Vermont publishing house where she discovers Verity is comatose after a car crash. Lowen is hired to finish her wife’s novel series, prompting a tense, trauma‑bonding relationship with Verity’s husband Jeremy. The movie has been criticized for pacing, shallow character development, and a lackluster adaptation of Hoover’s work.
