AI-summarised brief · reviewed before publication

Porsche announced the closure of its Web3 initiative and the PIONEERS CIRCLE community on October 1, after nearly four years of operation. The company confirmed that holders of its PORSCHE 911 NFTs will retain their tokens, which will remain on the blockchain, but the official Discord will become read‑only and the X account will cease posting. The original collection, launched at Art Basel Miami in December 2022, was reduced from 7,500 to 2,363 NFTs due to weak demand, and trading volume has since fallen sharply. The shutdown underscores the difficulty of sustaining long‑term engagement in brand‑led NFT projects.

💡 Why It Matters

· The move signals that even high‑profile brands struggle to maintain active communities around digital assets, highlighting the fragility of NFT ecosystems that rely on continuous interaction.

XRPL Welcomes New Era with Batch Fix and Permission Delegation Amendments

The XRP Ledger (XRPL) will activate two amendments on October 8 and 9, 2026. The 'permissionDelegate' amendment, set for October 8, introduces granular account permission controls, allowing users to delegate specific rights without granting full access. The 'fixBatchV1_2' amendment, scheduled for October 9, corrects issues in the transaction batching system that previously caused instability. Both updates follow extensive testing and community feedback, aiming to enhance the network’s scalability, security, and operational flexibility. The activations mark a significant step in XRPL’s ongoing infrastructure improvements.

💡 By tightening permission controls and stabilizing batch processing, XRPL strengthens its foundation for larger, more secure transactions, positioning it to support broader enterprise adoption.

Citigroup Expands Tokenized Deposit Service to Japan, UAE

Citigroup announced on September 28 that its Citi Token Services (CTS) blockchain‑based tokenized deposit platform will now operate in Japan and the United Arab Emirates, bringing the service to seven jurisdictions alongside the United States, Ireland, Hong Kong, Singapore and the United Kingdom. CTS lets corporate clients convert bank‑backed deposits into digital tokens on a permissioned ledger and move them across Citi’s network in near‑real time, bypassing traditional banking hours and holidays. The expansion adds dollar‑denominated transfers for Japan and both dollar and euro transfers for the UAE, enabling 24‑hour liquidity management for multinational firms. Citi says the platform already processes billions of dollars in transactions and plans to add more markets and currencies, with South Korea cited as the next target.

💡 Real‑time, bank‑backed token transfers give global companies a faster, lower‑cost alternative to legacy correspondent banking, accelerating the adoption of blockchain for corporate cash management.
