Android Auto might start requiring Android 11 or later soon, driver reports…

Google is reportedly tightening Android Auto’s operating‑system requirements, with user reports indicating that devices running Android 10 may soon lose support. Currently, wireless Auto mandates Android 11 while wired support accepts Android 9 Pie. Notifications warning of imminent shutdown have appeared on phones such as the Galaxy Note 9, Galaxy S9, and Xperia XZ2 Compact. Google has not yet updated its support page, but the trend suggests a move toward a unified, higher‑level OS threshold.

💡 The shift forces owners of mid‑generation phones to upgrade sooner than expected, potentially accelerating the cycle of smartphone replacement and affecting fleet operators who rely on older devices for in‑vehicle connectivity.

Leaked Galaxy S27 Ultra color list doesn’t include Purple, for a change

Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S27 Ultra will be released in four base colors—Black, Blue, Light Pink, and White—according to a leak on Twitter/X. The post omits a purple variant, a color that has appeared in every Galaxy S Ultra since 2023, raising questions about whether purple will be offered as an online-exclusive or omitted entirely. The device will feature a new camera island that spans the rear panel, giving it a distinct look from previous models. Samsung plans to launch the phone early next year.

💡 The absence of purple could signal a shift in Samsung’s color strategy, breaking a four‑year trend of offering a lavender‑like hue on its flagship Ultra line. This change may influence consumer perception of the brand’s design continuity.

Google’s Android Security State Libraries Enable Component-Level Security Verification

Google has released AndroidX Security State and Security State Provider libraries that let apps check the security‑patch status of individual Android components instead of relying on a single device‑wide patch level. The libraries expose three patch metrics—Device SPL (the patch currently installed and queried locally), Published SPL (the latest patch Google has released for each component) and Available SPL (the patch ready for download on the device). They differentiate between the core OS, system modules updated via Google Play, and the kernel, giving developers granular visibility into which parts are up‑to‑date. This capability is aimed at security‑sensitive applications such as banking, fintech, healthcare, and mobile device management solutions, allowing them to programmatically verify component security and trigger remediation when needed.

💡 It gives enterprises precise, automated insight to block or remediate devices that lag on critical components, tightening protection against exploits that target outdated kernels or system modules.
