Rockstar vowed GTA 6 wouldn’t be finished “by crunching” after Red Dead…

Rockstar’s head of publishing, Jennifer Kolbe, confirmed that the studio has changed its approach to game development after the crunch‑heavy production of Red Dead Redemption 2. Kolbe said Rockstar pledged to avoid “finishing a game by crunching” for GTA 6, introducing policies that grant paid time off and additional pay for overtime. While acknowledging imperfections, she expressed pride in the new framework. The shift follows employee claims that crunch remains “built into” contracts, despite the title’s long delay.

💡 The move signals a rare industry acknowledgment that developer well‑being can be prioritized without sacrificing a blockbuster’s launch. It may pressure other studios to adopt similar safeguards, reshaping expectations for high‑profile game releases.

“You don’t listen to the loudest people in the room” – World…

World of Warcraft executive producer Holly Longdale addressed the massive response to the “Forever” beta at PAX Australia, describing player turnout as “insane” and the largest Blizzard beta ever. She explained that the surge of feedback from social media forces the team to filter input, emphasizing the mantra “you don’t listen to the loudest people in the room.” The studio has already implemented several community‑driven changes, including a redesign of Skyborne elf models, adjustments to dungeon loot, and revamped druid spell buffs, blending player suggestions with data‑driven analysis. Longdale acknowledged that not every decision will satisfy all players, stressing the need to define the game’s core audience and deliver a cohesive experience before the full launch on 4 November.

💡 By prioritizing balanced, data‑backed tweaks over vocal minority demands, Blizzard aims to shape a sustainable post‑launch community rather than chase fleeting hype.
