Skip the controller, the Apple TV 4K still isn’t a good gaming…

Apple released the 4th‑generation Apple TV 4K with an A19 chip, 128 GB storage, and continued controller support, promising improved gaming performance. However, the device remains limited to 4K at 60 fps, lacks Just‑In‑Time compilation, and offers insufficient storage for modern titles. Its $299 price point and absence of variable refresh rates make it unattractive to core gamers. Consequently, the Apple TV 4K is better suited as a streaming box than a serious gaming platform.

💡 The Apple TV 4K’s shortcomings reveal that Apple’s push into console‑style gaming is superficial, underscoring the company’s focus on its mobile ecosystem rather than competing with dedicated gaming hardware.

The ‘renewable’ iPhone Duo display layer may help buyers justify the price

Apple’s new iPhone Duo, priced between $1,999 and $3,199, features a “renewable” inner display layer designed to reduce the visible crease that plagues folding phones. Early tests show the crease is barely noticeable when new, and Apple claims the layer can be replaced after wear. Replacement costs $19 with AppleCare or $49 without, a modest fee for a premium device. The feature aims to extend the phone’s usable life and justify its high price.

💡 By offering a low‑cost, replaceable inner layer, Apple addresses a common durability concern that could otherwise deter long‑term ownership of its expensive folding phone.
