Moto Tag 2 brings its UWB and Android Find Hub integration back…

Motorola has reduced the price of its Moto Tag 2 tracker to $19.99, restoring its earlier $20 level after a brief promotion pause. The device remains the sole Android Find Hub tracker that combines UWB precise locating with Bluetooth, and it now boasts improved battery life and compatibility with AirTag accessories. A single unit is sold at $19.99 on Motorola.com and Amazon, while a four‑pack costs $69.99, offering the exclusive orange “Arabesque” color. Google is preparing a $30 Pixel Tag, but it lacks AirTag accessory support.

Google says Gemini 4 Argon ranks well behind Claude and GPT-6 for…

Google refreshed its Android Bench, a ranking that measures AI models’ ability to assist Android developers, adding new entries and cost data on October 26. The updated list includes OpenAI’s GPT‑6 Sol, GPT‑6.1 Sol, Anthropic‑style Claude Sonnet 5 and 5.5, and Google’s Gemini 4 Argon. Claude Sonnet 5.5 leads with a 40 % pass rate and 80.9 % completion rate, while Claude Opus 5.5 follows. GPT‑6.1 Sol posts a 29.3 % pass rate, 82.8 % completion rate and a $99.50 average cost, far cheaper than Claude’s $1,574.90. Gemini 4 Argon falls to fifth place with a 21.3 % pass rate, 81.8 % completion rate and $267.70 cost, lagging behind Claude Fable 5.1. Internal sources say the model “struggles to handle certain coding tasks,” though Google defends its performance. Developers can compare efficiency pricing for tool selection.

💡 The stark gap between Google’s own model and leading competitors highlights the difficulty of matching external AI advances, pushing developers toward third‑party solutions for superior coding assistance.

uCreator Android Spyware Can Steal Telegram 2FA Passwords and Clone WeChat Accounts

A rent‑a‑spyware kit named uCreator embeds malicious code in counterfeit copies of Telegram and WeChat, allowing attackers to hijack accounts, steal Telegram two‑factor authentication passwords, and clone WeChat sessions. The kit’s Telegram module matches the Baohuo backdoor previously reported by Doctor Web, sharing the same namespace (com.ucreator.tgjar), C2 server and command set. Infections spread via sideloaded APKs, fake app‑store sites targeting Portuguese‑speaking Brazil and Indonesian users, and a container app called “Onion Box” that runs other apps inside it. By running with the victim app’s identity, the malware can query message databases, exfiltrate phone numbers, names and passwords, and conceal attacker sessions. Samples dated July 2026 still use an older hooking engine, but the threat persists across Android 16–17 devices, with victims reported in China, the United States, India, Brazil and Indonesia.

💡 By capturing clear‑text 2FA passwords, the kit bypasses Telegram’s strongest user protection, giving attackers full control over high‑value messaging accounts and the ability to silently monitor or commandeer communications.

Battery drain in One UI 9? Some Galaxy S24 users are having…

Reports from Samsung Galaxy S24 owners indicate severe battery drain after installing the One UI 9 update. A user of the S24 Ultra logged a 95 % loss of charge in five hours and twenty minutes under “heavy use,” with just over three hours of screen‑on time. Another user claimed a 40 % drop while the phone sat idle for eleven hours. Similar complaints have surfaced for the newer S25 series, though some users see no change. A Korean Galaxy S26 user also encountered a “webpage unavailable” bug that locked the device after the update, prompting Samsung to advise updating the browser and using stable Wi‑Fi. Samsung is rolling out One UI 9 across current and legacy devices, but early feedback suggests the older models are more affected, and the company has not yet confirmed a fix.

💡 The drain threatens user confidence in Samsung’s flagship line just as the company pushes a major UI overhaul across its portfolio.

Google Messages rolling out Enhanced Protection mode against spam and scams

Google Messages for Android is launching an opt‑in Enhanced Protection mode to combat spam and scams. The new feature adds three core capabilities: Scam Detection, which uses cloud Gemini models and Android’s Private AI Compute to analyze message context and identify sophisticated attacks; enhanced link protection, employing on‑device Gemini Nano and real‑time web signals to assess link safety; and redesigned warnings that give users more time and context before tapping unfamiliar links. The update is available on select Pixel, Samsung, and other devices and can be enabled in the app’s settings.

💡 By shifting advanced threat analysis to the cloud while keeping data private, Google strengthens user security without compromising privacy. The feature’s rollout signals a broader industry move toward AI‑driven, device‑centric protection against evolving spam tactics.
