“Don’t buy Marathon as a donation,” Bungie boss says as players worry…

Bungie product head Josh Deane clarified that Destiny 2’s future is not contingent on the struggling Marathon title. In a blog post and subsequent tweets, Deane urged players to support only the games they enjoy, stressing that Marathon’s success would benefit Bungie financially but is not a prerequisite for Destiny plans. Marathon’s player base has fallen from 88,000 peak to about 2,000–3,000 daily users, and its harsh design has driven many players away, leaving both games’ long‑term viability uncertain.

💡 The clarification helps calm a community anxious that Destiny 2’s survival depends on Marathon’s revival, underscoring Bungie’s intent to pursue parallel development paths.

The Blood of Dawnwalker devs want to make RPGs that “we ourselves…

Rebel Wolves’ debut RPG, The Blood of Dawnwalker, has been hailed as one of 2026’s standout releases, earning the author’s GOTY pick. The Warsaw‑based studio, founded by former Witcher 3 director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz and ex‑CDPR talent, emphasizes creative freedom over market trends, citing a desire to build games they personally enjoy. With backing from NetEase and publisher Bandai Namco, the team maintains full control, integrating gothic horror elements and a controversial time‑limit mechanic to heighten stakes.

💡 By rejecting trend‑driven development, Rebel Wolves challenges the industry’s profit‑centric model, demonstrating that niche, passion‑driven titles can achieve critical acclaim and commercial viability.

The first game is currently discounted to $15.99, 60% off, until November 5, while the sequel remains full price. Both PS5 and PS4 versions will be delisted from all storefronts, leaving players a final window to purchase the series based on the reality show.

💡 The removal underscores the fragility of digital libraries when licensing lapses, forcing gamers to act quickly to secure titles that may never reappear.

Chronicles: Medieval Developer ‘At Real Risk of Closing’ Before Release as Funding…

Raw Power Games announced that its medieval open‑world title, Chronicles: Medieval, faces imminent closure because its funding has been withdrawn. The Copenhagen‑based studio warned that without financial support it cannot continue development or launch Early Access, despite the game’s near‑completion and growing fan interest. The announcement followed a highly viewed Tom Hardy‑narrated trailer revealed at Summer Game Fest 2025. The studio urged supporters to keep the game on wishlists and spread awareness while it fights to survive.

💡 The studio’s collapse underscores the volatility of indie funding and the fragility of ambitious projects that rely on external investors. It highlights how quickly a game’s future can shift, affecting developers, fans, and the broader market for large‑scale sandbox titles.
