Honor’s battery plans look stunning—tests might’ve started with 15,000mAh capacity

Honor is reportedly testing a new phone battery with a capacity between 14,000 and 15,000 mAh, a significant jump from its current 8,800 mAh silicon‑carbon batteries. The tipster claims the battery could last a full week on a single charge, positioning it as the phone’s main feature. Honor previously announced a shift toward larger batteries in 2025, and the rumored unit would maintain efficiency while remaining compact. The development follows the launch of the Magic 9 Pro Max, which introduced 8,800 mAh power and 100 W wired charging.

💡 A week‑long battery would redefine endurance expectations for flagship smartphones, potentially shifting market focus from fast charging to sustained usage. This move could pressure competitors to innovate beyond current capacity limits.

Samsung’s new Galaxy S27 Pro could come with one disappointing compromise

Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S27 lineup, slated for a Q1 2025 launch, includes four models whose specifications surfaced in an import‑export database. The standard S27 and S27 Plus will use Samsung’s Exynos 2700, while the flagship S27 Ultra is set to receive Qualcomm’s top‑tier Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6. The newly identified S27 Pro, positioned between the 6.3‑inch S27 and 6.9‑inch Ultra with a 6.5‑inch screen, appears to be equipped with the regular Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 rather than the Extreme variant. The Pro will adopt several Ultra features such as Privacy Display but omit the S Pen. Analysts speculate the lower‑clocked chip may aid thermal management in the smaller chassis. Battery capacity is rumored to be 4,800 mAh, supporting charging and wireless power‑share.

💡 By capping the Pro at a non‑Extreme chipset, Samsung forces buyers to choose between size and raw performance, sharpening the trade‑off that defines its flagship strategy.

Report: Apple and Samsung outperform rivals as smartphone chip shipments tumble 21%

Apple and Samsung were the only major smartphone chip makers to grow market share in the third quarter of 2026, while global shipments fell 21% year‑over‑year, according to Counterpoint Research. Apple’s share rose from 17% to 21%, keeping it third among vendors; Samsung moved from 6% to 8%, placing it fifth. MediaTek remained leader with 28% despite a six‑point drop, and Qualcomm fell to 22% from 25%. New flagship SoCs launched in September – Apple’s A20 series, MediaTek’s Dimensity 9600 Pro and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 – are expected to lift premium shipments in Q4, though volumes will stay below the previous year. Counterpoint projects a 20% decline in 2026 and another 3‑4% drop in 2027, while memory prices continue rising.

💡 Apple’s share gain proves premium devices can thrive even as the overall market contracts, and Samsung’s rise signals that high‑end Android manufacturers can still capture growth amid shrinking demand.
