iOS 27.2 is out without the Apple Health revamp

Apple has released iOS 27.2, the first major update to the iOS 27 platform, making it available to all compatible iPhone models, including the fold‑able iPhone Duo. The rollout skips the previously announced iOS 27.1, which was used internally for the Duo’s dual‑screen hardware. iOS 27.2 (build 24B119 for standard iPhones and 24B91020 for the Duo) adds FaceTime Dual Capture, letting users stream from both front and rear cameras simultaneously, and updates the Apple Music icon to a monochrome design. The Apple TV app now supports user profiles, mirroring tvOS 26.2. Siri AI gains expanded localization for five additional languages, and an AutoLock security prototype was tested, though it does not yet lock the device. A planned Health app redesign was removed from the final build and will be introduced later.

💡 The Dual Capture feature instantly upgrades video communication, giving iPhone users a native multi‑camera experience that previously required third‑party tools. Skipping iOS 27.1 signals Apple’s intent to unify its standard and Duo lineups under a single software foundation.

How to keep politicians from flooding your iPhone with campaign texts

Ahead of Election Day, iPhone users are being bombarded with political fundraising texts that appear in the standard Messages app. Apple’s iOS 26 includes a “Screen Unknown Senders” feature that automatically diverts messages from numbers not saved in the user’s contacts into a separate folder and mutes their alerts, while still delivering the content. The setting is disabled by default unless the older “Filter Unknown Senders” option was previously turned on, meaning many devices continue to display campaign texts alongside personal conversations. Political groups have complained that the filter could hide donation requests, but Apple argues the tool targets unsolicited messages without blocking delivery. Users can enable the feature in Settings to silence alerts without manually blocking each new number.

💡 It gives iPhone owners a simple, system‑level way to curb unwanted political spam without missing any messages entirely.

Alongside the iPad mini reveal, Apple hinted at an “exciting week” of additional product launches, while a separate report noted the MacBook Neo’s role in cushioning Apple’s exposure to a global PC market slowdown. The episode also mentioned Apple’s investigation into a layout fix for Safari on the iPhone Duo’s outer screen.

Apple announces Siri AI will expand to these new languages soon

Apple expanded Siri AI to five new languages—French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish—during the iOS 27.2 update, increasing the assistant’s reach from a single language to six. The company also announced that four additional languages will be added by year‑end, likely with the upcoming iOS 27.3 release in December, whose beta may appear soon. While Siri AI will support Traditional Chinese, it remains unavailable in China, where Apple plans to launch other AI features later in the year.

💡 By broadening Siri’s linguistic coverage, Apple moves closer to global user parity, enabling a wider audience to access its AI assistant and reinforcing its competitive stance in the multilingual smart‑assistant market.
