AI-summarised brief · reviewed before publication

Google has notified Gemini AI Plus subscribers that, effective November 13, 2026, their plan will no longer include access to the advanced Gemini Pro models. The change follows the launch of the new Argon model, which is now reserved for AI Pro and AI Ultra tiers. AI Plus members will retain only the Flash‑Lite and Flash models. The $4.99 monthly plan will offer these two models, while the $19.99 tier will include Argon, widening the gap between subscription levels.

💡 Why It Matters

· The shift forces users who relied on Pro models for complex tasks to upgrade or downgrade, reshaping the competitive landscape of AI subscription services.

Google Home update rolling out with improved Favorites, more app & Gemini…

Google Home is rolling out a new update that refines the Favorites tab, allowing users to reorder devices smoothly and eliminating previous drag‑and‑drop instability. The update also redesigns controls for third‑party smart home devices and introduces several Gemini fixes, including more reliable stop commands, clearer responses on smart displays, and better differentiation between music and ambient sounds. Additional improvements feature enhanced smoke‑alarm banners, a responsive video scrubber on Android, and Matter support for Philips Hue bridges.

💡 The update streamlines everyday interactions, reducing frustration for users who rely heavily on the Favorites interface. By tightening Gemini’s voice controls, Google enhances the reliability of its AI assistant in a smart‑home context.

ChipAgents, NVIDIA Launch Benchmark for Autonomous Chip Design

ChipAgents, an agentic AI platform for semiconductor engineering, partnered with NVIDIA to launch Build‑A‑Chip‑Bench, a comprehensive benchmark that evaluates AI agents on the full chip‑design flow—from specification and RTL generation to synthesis, placement, routing, and physical verification. The benchmark measures whether agents can produce a verified GDS that meets functional, timing, power, and area constraints. Initial tests show agents pass functional verification on about 40% of tasks, but only 10% meet physical performance targets, underscoring the gap between code generation and complete silicon readiness.

💡 The benchmark forces AI systems to confront real‑world engineering constraints, revealing that current models still struggle to translate correct RTL into manufacturable chips. This gap highlights the need for deeper integration of physical‑design reasoning in autonomous design tools.

Apple Intelligence finally gets a release window for its debut in China

Apple is slated to introduce its Apple Intelligence suite to Chinese users in December 2024 as part of the iOS 27.3 update, according to Bloomberg. The rollout follows months of regulatory negotiations that required a locally hosted backend, a hurdle Apple cleared in July. Alibaba’s AI division will supply the necessary models, specifically Tongyi Wanxiang and Qwen, rather than Apple’s newer Gemini‑Frontier foundation models. Consequently, Chinese users will receive only the original, less advanced features launched earlier in the year, with restrictions that bar Image Playground and certain text‑generation functions. Apple’s move aims to satisfy domestic demand for AI capabilities, though analysts doubt it will significantly shift iPhone sales amid stronger competitor offerings.

💡 By partnering with Alibaba, Apple sidesteps China’s data‑sovereignty rules, securing a foothold for its AI services in the world’s largest smartphone market.

Floqer’s AI agents research sales prospects so teams don’t have to

Floqer, a 2024-founded autonomous customer‑knowledge platform, will pitch its AI‑powered database at TechCrunch Disrupt 2026. The startup, led by Shivam Mahajan and Zaaheda Islam, has already exceeded $1.2 million ARR and seen revenue grow tenfold in a year. Floqer’s system uses AI agents to continuously gather, enrich, and update prospect data from over 100 sources, cutting prospecting time by up to 70%. It plans to open‑source the technology in early 2027 after security reviews.

💡 By automating data curation, Floqer removes a major bottleneck in B2B sales, enabling teams to focus on closing deals rather than manual research. The open‑source move could democratize advanced customer‑knowledge tools, reshaping how enterprises manage and update their CRM data.

Zenzap raises $44M for its AI chat app that aims to replace…

Zenzap, a private AI‑powered messenger designed for workplace use, secured $44 million in funding from Bessemer, Lightspeed, The Garage, and individual investors including Nir Zohar and Yoram Tietz. Founder Guy Weiss, who previously sold StuccoMedia, now targets industries such as hospitality, construction, healthcare, and fast food, offering free chat features and paid plans starting at $51 per month for advanced voice, video, AI search, and workflow automation. Current clients include FedEx, Dollar General, Taco Bell, Starbucks, and Regal, with plans to expand product and R&D teams.

💡 By integrating AI directly into a mobile‑first messaging platform, Zenzap addresses a gap left by consumer apps that fail IT compliance and by enterprise tools that lack everyday usability, potentially reshaping how non‑technical staff manage daily communication and tasks.

Deep dive into Azure Maia 300 architecture

Microsoft unveiled Maia 300, its third‑generation AI inference platform, at Ignite 2026. The system integrates silicon, software, rack infrastructure, networking, and datacenters into a single co‑designed platform optimized for large‑language‑model inference. Maia 300 expands from 96 to 12,288 accelerators, introduces NUMA memory, narrow‑precision data types, and a native AI network controller, boosting memory bandwidth by 2.5×, capacity by 33%, and HBM bandwidth per watt by roughly 2× over Maia 200. The design aims to deliver up to seven times greater token throughput while maximizing performance per watt within fixed power and cooling limits.

💡 By treating the entire data‑center stack as a unified AI engine, Maia 300 sets a new benchmark for energy‑efficient, high‑throughput inference, directly supporting Microsoft’s growing portfolio of AI‑driven services.
