Googlebook’s app situation is a mess, and not just because things are…

Googlebook’s launch has exposed significant app compatibility issues, particularly with desktop‑class software. The Android‑based platform lacks key productivity suites like Adobe and offers limited alternatives, forcing users to rely on the Google Play Store’s fragmented quality labeling system. Popular apps such as Telegram, Slack, and Spotify perform poorly, with broken interfaces and inconsistent functionality. Critics argue that Google’s early release, priced competitively, fails to meet expectations for a full‑featured laptop, prompting many to consider established Windows or Mac alternatives.

💡 The app shortcomings undermine Googlebook’s promise of a seamless hybrid experience, risking consumer trust and slowing adoption of Google’s new hardware strategy.

Google’s next TV Streamer sounds like a massive upgrade — Apple should…

Google is developing a next‑generation TV Streamer that will be slightly narrower than the current model but will feature built‑in far‑field microphones, allowing users to voice‑control Gemini without the remote. The device is expected to include a faster processor, increased 32 GB storage, and a redesigned remote with extra shortcut buttons for YouTube and Netflix, plus a Find My Remote feature. The new streamer may also support presence‑sensing to wake the TV when someone enters the room. No launch date or price has been announced yet.

💡 The addition of built‑in microphones could shift how consumers interact with smart TVs, reducing reliance on remotes and streamlining voice commands. This move positions Google to compete more directly with Apple’s upcoming Apple TV 4K, potentially reshaping the streaming device market.
