Jagex cancels RuneScape Reignited less than two weeks after it was announced,…

Jagex cancelled RuneScape: Reignited less than two weeks after its reveal at RuneFest. The proposed mode would have let new players start fresh characters in a separate economy, preventing them from buying or selling with regular accounts and barring them from boss encounters. Long‑time players criticized the plan for splitting the community and forcing veterans to abandon progress. Jagex cited overwhelming negative feedback and past mistakes in combat changes as reasons for the abrupt reversal. The cancellation leaves the inflated in‑game economy issue unresolved.

💡 The decision underscores how player sentiment can override corporate strategy, even for high‑profile projects. It also signals that Jagex remains cautious about altering core gameplay mechanics that could destabilize the existing player base.

Cyberpunk 2 boss says the dystopian RPG has evolved beyond his original…

CD Projekt Red’s director Gabe Amatangelo revealed in a recent blog post that the vision for Cyberpunk 2 is shifting as the development team expands. While he originated the concept, Amatangelo now emphasizes delegating decisions to a growing staff of over 180 developers, allowing the game to evolve beyond his initial ideas. He describes the process as a collective reflection of the team’s “hearts and souls,” and stresses the importance of redefining the cyberpunk genre through diverse perspectives. Amatangelo’s background in punk music informs his view of cyberpunk as an exaggerated, dehumanizing aesthetic that asks probing questions. Although no release window is set, the studio is currently prioritizing The Witcher 4, with Cyberpunk 2 progressing alongside other major projects such as Project Hadar.

💡 Empowering a large, autonomous team could prevent the missteps that plagued Cyberpunk 2077’s launch, potentially delivering a more cohesive sequel.
