New D&D RPG Warlock has a smaller open world so devs can…

Wizards of the Coast’s upcoming open‑world Dungeons & Dragons game, Warlock, will feature a more compact map than typical RPGs to encourage exploration rather than guided waypoint travel. The title centers on Tasha, an archmage and demonologist, and showcases a 10‑minute gameplay demo in August. Developer Dominic Guay explains that a denser world allows for reduced handholding, while still offering abundant spells and dynamic real‑time magic controls. The design aims to deliver an action‑packed, immersive experience without the scale of titles like Skyrim.

💡 By shrinking the world, Warlock prioritizes player agency and discovery, offering a fresh take on D&D’s open‑world formula that could reshape expectations for future tabletop‑based games.
