2 Popular PS4 Games Completely Free on PlayStation Store Right Now

A glitch or planned promotion has made two popular PS4 titles, Call of Duty: WWII and Mafia III, available for free on the PlayStation Store in several regions, including the UK, Europe, India, and parts of South America. Players can claim the games, download them, and play on a secondary account before switching to their main account. Sony is expected to revoke the licenses once the issue is identified, potentially removing the titles from users’ libraries. The offer is currently temporary and region‑specific.

💡 The sudden availability of high‑profile games for free highlights a significant lapse in Sony’s digital storefront controls, exposing users to potential license revocation and raising questions about the integrity of PlayStation’s distribution system.

Ex-PlayStation boss recalls Nintendo employee’s reaction to the PSP reveal: “You bastards”

Former PlayStation chief Shawn Layden recalled Sony’s 2003–2005 entry into handheld gaming with the PSP, noting the fierce rivalry with Nintendo’s DS. He described a text from a Nintendo colleague calling Sony “you bastards” as the DS dominated the market, selling 154 million units versus the PSP’s 76 million. Layden highlighted piracy, the jailbreak issue, and Monster Hunter’s role in boosting PSP sales. He warned that Sony’s dual‑platform strategy strains marketing budgets and suggested a dedicated handheld division for future ventures.

💡 The clash illustrates how a single platform can reshape a company’s strategy, forcing Sony to rethink resource allocation and product focus in a market that now favors unified, cross‑device experiences.

“Keep it family friendly” – Sega’s official Sonic Discord swarmed by 50,000…

Sega launched an official Sonic the Hedgehog Discord server, attracting more than 50,000 members within six hours. The channel offers discussion rooms for games, movies, comics, and an off‑topic space, but lacks a fan‑art channel at launch. Moderation is tight: slow mode limits posts, image uploads are disabled, all‑caps messages trigger an auto‑filter, and new members must use Discord Nitro to post. A launch‑day Q&A outlined these rules and promised a future fan‑art channel.

💡 The rapid influx demonstrates Sonic’s enduring fanbase and Sega’s willingness to experiment with community platforms. The strict moderation model may set a precedent for how large franchises manage online fan engagement.
