Steam is finally fixing its broken DLC achievements

Valve has launched Steam Achievement Sets, a beta feature that separates base game achievements from DLC, seasonal updates, and new modes. The system lets developers group achievements into distinct sets, preserving a player’s base‑game completion ribbon even after additional content is released. Additional changes include archived achievements, separate campaign and multiplayer sets, sub‑ribbons, and a cleaner UI. The update removes overall completion percentages from profiles and replaces them with completed sets, aiming to reduce inflated stats. Several studios, including Arcen Games and Modern Warfare 4, have already adopted the feature.

💡 By decoupling DLC from core achievements, Steam addresses long‑standing frustration among completionists, ensuring that new content no longer erodes past accomplishments. This shift could reshape how developers design post‑launch content and how players perceive game completion.
