Valve explains why it’s running behind on Steam game approvals, asks developers…

Valve announced that Steam’s game approval process is now taking up to 12 business days due to a surge in submissions and frequent re‑reviews. The company cited missing quality‑assurance checks as the main cause of delays and has tightened its release checklist. New requirements include a five‑minute Steam playthrough, explicit listing of redistributables, achievement readiness, cloud‑save detection, and updated store‑page rules. Valve urges developers to address these items upfront to avoid re‑reviews.

💡 The backlog threatens to stall indie launches, potentially delaying revenue streams and market visibility for new titles. By tightening pre‑submission checks, Valve aims to streamline approvals and reduce the risk of post‑release technical issues that could harm user experience.

Nintendo says it isn’t planning any more Switch 2 price hikes

Nintendo announced that it has secured sufficient memory supplies to continue producing Switch 2 units, and therefore will not raise the console’s price again. The company, which has sold 26 million Switch 2s, previously increased the price on September 1 by $50, €30, or ¥10,000 in major markets. The decision follows earlier price hikes for accessories triggered by U.S. tariffs and global memory shortages that have also affected PlayStation and Xbox. Nintendo’s move comes as Switch 2 sales have dipped in recent quarters but still outpace the original Switch.

💡 By stabilizing the Switch 2 price, Nintendo mitigates consumer backlash amid a broader industry trend of hardware inflation, preserving its competitive edge in a market where rivals have repeatedly raised prices.
