Gears of War: E-Day Estimated Sales Reach Just 230,000 in First Week,…

Xbox exclusive Gears of War: E‑Day sold an estimated 230,000 copies in its first week, according to Alinea Analytics. Steam contributed 168,000 sales, while Xbox and PC combined accounted for 62,000. The data, unverified by Microsoft, suggests Game Pass subscriptions are cannibalizing premium sales, with 722,000 users upgrading to the Premium Edition for early access. Revenue from the Xbox ecosystem reached $27 million, with total earnings around $37 million. The launch highlights challenges for Xbox’s push toward exclusive titles.

💡 The sales dip underscores the tension between subscription models and direct game purchases, revealing how Game Pass can erode revenue for flagship releases. This dynamic may influence future pricing strategies and the viability of exclusive titles on the platform.

After modders removed Skate’s live service bits, devs draw the line with…

EA and Full Circle, the studio behind the early‑access skateboarding title skate., have issued a public statement clarifying their stance on player‑made modifications. While the developers praise community creativity and the sandbox tools built into San Vansterdam, they draw a firm line at mods that “bypass our systems to unlock paid cosmetics, release gated/unreleased content, or profit from unauthorized assets.” The warning follows the rapid rise of ReSkate, a third‑party mod platform that let users run the game offline with custom maps, cosmetics and private servers, amassing 350,000 downloads within hours. Full Circle has not taken enforcement action against ReSkate or similar creators yet, but the notice signals future restrictions on tools that undermine the game’s live‑service revenue model.

💡 By confronting mods that unlock paid content, the studio is protecting its monetisation pipeline and the intellectual property of partnered skate brands, setting a precedent for how live‑service games will police community‑driven workarounds.

Owlcat’s upcoming samurai CRPG that I wish was on Xbox gets its…

Owlcat Games announced that its upcoming tactical turn‑based CRPG Shadow of the Road will no longer launch on November 12, 2026. The release has been pushed to March 10, 2027 for PC on Steam, the Epic Games Store and GOG. Owlcat said the delay gives co‑developer Another Angler Games extra time to refine combat mechanics, character progression and resolve lingering technical issues. The studio will keep the community engaged with additional videos and gameplay updates during the wait. Shadow of the Road is set in an alternate 1860s Japan torn by civil war, featuring demons, steampunk mecha and a squad of samurai and mystics whose dialogue choices shape the narrative. No Xbox platform support has been confirmed. The postponement also avoids competing directly with releases.

💡 Shifting the launch to March gives the game a less crowded window, improving its visibility and potential reception among early‑2027 releases.
