Rosalina’s game actor says Brie Larson’s Super Mario Galaxy Movie version needed…

Mercedes Rose, the original voice of Rosalina in Nintendo’s 2007‑2010 games, praised Brie Larson’s portrayal of the character in the 2026 “Super Mario Galaxy Movie” but lamented that Rosalina received limited screen time. Rose voiced her wish to have been cast herself, posting the comment on Twitter. The film, despite a low 42 % critic rating on Rotten Tomatoes, earned an 87 % audience score and surpassed $1 billion worldwide. Critics noted the movie’s energetic style but criticized the underdeveloped storyline and the handling of Rosalina’s role. Additionally, the movie introduced a new lore twist, revealing Rosalina and Princess Peach as sisters, a departure from established canon. Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri highlighted the studio’s new collaborative approach with Nintendo’s Miyamoto team for the franchise’s success.

💡 The fan‑actor’s public call for more Rosalina focus underscores a growing demand for deeper representation of legacy video‑game characters in blockbuster adaptations.

For This Week Only, the Gigabyte A16 Pro 16″ RTX 5070 Ti…

Walmart is offering the Gigabyte A16 Pro 16‑inch gaming laptop for $1,449 with free shipping for one week, reviving a deal from the recent GeForce Week Event. The machine pairs an Intel Core i7‑1240H ten‑core processor (up to 5.2 GHz) with Nvidia’s mobile RTX 5070 Ti GPU, a 12 GB card running at 115 W TGP, delivering roughly 20‑30 % more performance than the RTX 5070 and matching RTX 4080 levels in DLSS 4.5‑enabled titles. It ships with 32 GB of DDR5 RAM and a 1 TB SSD, the RAM fixed but the SSD upgradeable. The 16‑inch 2560×1600 IPS panel refreshes at 165 Hz, while the chassis weighs about five pounds and tapers to 0.77 inch, unusually thin for a 16‑inch gaming notebook. Its battery life reaches eight hours under typical gaming workloads.

💡 At $1,449 the A16 Pro brings near‑flagship RTX 5080‑class power to a price point previously reserved for mid‑range rigs, forcing consumers to reconsider the cost barrier for premium mobile gaming.

Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse Review

Nearly twenty years after the last mainline 2D Castlevania title, Evil Empire—known for the 2023 Dead Cells DLC—released Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, a fresh entry that blends classic platforming with modern conveniences. Set in a burning Paris, the game follows Rose Belmont, daughter of Trevor Belmont and Sypha Belnades, as she hunts Dracula and other iconic foes. The narrative incorporates Tarot cards left by Sypha, allowing defeated bosses to appear as voices in Rose’s mind, adding quirky dialogue but limited interaction with living NPCs. Gameplay features large, Metroid‑style zones, boss‑guarded areas, and quality‑of‑life tools such as map markers and percentage trackers. While the title honors series lore and introduces a strong, impulsive heroine, its reliance on internal boss chatter and sparse world‑building may disappoint fans seeking a fully immersive revival.

💡 By positioning a female Belmont at the forefront and integrating contemporary UI aids, the game tests how legacy franchises can evolve without alienating core audiences.

Chandler Riggs, known for playing Carl Grimes on The Walking Dead, is releasing a 19‑minute fan‑made short film titled Biohazard, adapting the plot of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. The film stars Riggs as Ethan Winters, with fellow Walking Dead alum Jason Dougl portraying Jack Baker, and includes a supporting cast of Mary Rachel Quinn, Eugenie Bondurant, Johnathan O’Neil and Sam Coyles. Shot with practical sets and minimal VFX to mirror the game’s horror, the trailer debuted on IGN’s YouTube channel, showing Riggs pleading with a police officer while the Baker family descends into madness. Riggs wrote and directed the project before Zach Cregger’s theatrical Resident Evil was announced, and he has expressed interest in collaborating with Cregger on future installments. Biohazard will be released online on October 14.

💡 Riggs’ grassroots adaptation demonstrates how fan‑driven productions can parallel major studio releases, potentially reshaping how franchises engage with creator‑led content.

“I was forced to ship the game” – Glen Schofield blames Krafton…

Glen Schofield, co‑creator of Dead Space and founder of Striking Distance, blamed publisher Krafton for the troubled launch of The Callisto Protocol. In a GamesIndustry.biz interview, Schofield said Krafton withdrew a promised three‑month development extension during the COVID‑19 pandemic, forcing the team to ship in December 2022 instead of March 2023. He described how repeated staff illnesses, a shutdown of the Spain studio, and the need to support both PS4 and PS5 added $20 million in costs and logistical strain amid a global chip shortage. Schofield also criticized Krafton’s inexperience with single‑player releases, noting the publisher’s focus on PUBG and its legal disputes. The game launched with technical flaws, mixed reviews, and poor sales, prompting extensive post‑launch patching.

💡 The dispute exposes how aggressive publishing timelines can compromise game quality and staff wellbeing, underscoring the risks when publishers venture beyond their core expertise.
