Apple @ Work: How I’m preparing my fleet for Rosetta’s removal in…

Mosyle’s Apple Unified Platform enables IT teams to prepare for macOS 27’s removal of Rosetta, which will affect legacy Intel‑only software. Bradley Chambers, an experienced Apple IT admin, outlines a short‑term fix: a Mosyle script that reinstalls Rosetta on devices joining a macOS 27 Dynamic Device Group. He stresses the urgency of auditing fleets, as vendors still lacking Apple Silicon‑native builds risk silent failures. Mosyle’s solution is positioned as a quick, automated workaround while awaiting native releases.

💡 The shift forces enterprises to confront long‑standing vendor delays, revealing gaps in support for critical legacy applications. Prompt action can prevent costly downtime and force vendors to prioritize macOS compatibility.

PSA: Apple’s official silicone iPhone Duo case will require adhesive to stick

Apple’s upcoming iPhone Duo will launch next week, and preorders for its official accessories have begun. The $79 silicone case requires users to apply adhesive to secure it to the foldable phone, a departure from the magnetic attachment used on other models. Apple also offers a $129 folio case with a kickstand. The adhesive requirement may limit case swapping and affect long‑term adhesion. Third‑party options like Spigen and ESR are available for those who prefer alternatives.

💡 The adhesive design signals a shift in Apple’s approach to foldable protection, potentially influencing user experience and aftermarket accessory development.

Generative AI porn apps targeted in App Review Guidelines update

Apple updated its App Review Guidelines on October 16 to tighten controls on apps that generate or distribute non‑consensual intimate imagery, including AI‑created pornographic content. The revision targets “bait‑and‑switch” tactics, where apps appear compliant during review but reveal hidden adult features afterward. New rules require proactive content moderation, user reporting, and blocking capabilities for objectionable material. Apple also clarified that apps facilitating human trafficking or child exploitation will be removed and barred from alternative distribution.

💡 By closing loopholes that let deceptive adult apps slip through, Apple strengthens user safety and sets a stricter precedent for AI‑driven content on its platform.

Apple nabs Meta VP for global litigation chief role

Apple has appointed former Meta executive Scott Tucker as its new Vice President of Global Litigation and Financial Services. Tucker will oversee commercial and patent litigation, as well as financial legal matters, joining SVP and General Counsel Jennifer Newstead, who left Meta in March. The move follows Apple’s 2026 leadership overhaul, including CEO John Ternus. Tucker’s prior experience at Meta and Morgan Stanley equips him for the dual legal and financial focus. Apple’s commercial litigation VP Heather Grenier will now report to Tucker, while VP Kyle Andeer expands his remit to international legal matters.

💡 The appointment signals Apple’s intent to strengthen its legal posture amid growing regulatory scrutiny and high‑profile patent disputes. By bringing in a seasoned Meta veteran, Apple positions itself to navigate complex cross‑border litigation and financial compliance challenges more effectively.

iPhone Duo sells out immediately, now backordered until next year

Apple launched pre‑orders for its first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo, early this morning. Within minutes, the company’s ordering system displayed delivery estimates stretching into the following year, with the earliest shipments slated for October 23 for those who ordered instantly. By 8:30 a.m. ET all color and storage variants were listed as back‑ordered, showing estimated ship dates of January 25 and, for some, January 29. Apple attributes the delay to a mix of unusually strong consumer demand and a severely limited production ramp, a situation confirmed by a recent Nikkei Asia report that cited daily output of only a few hundred units. Secondary‑market sellers have already posted the device on eBay for up to $5,200, underscoring the scarcity in the market.

💡 The scramble for the iPhone Duo turns it into a status symbol, forcing buyers to pay premium resale prices and pressuring Apple to accelerate its foldable production line.

iPhone 18 Pro one month later: These features keep impressing me

After a month of daily use, the iPhone 18 Pro impresses reviewers with three standout features: exceptional battery life, a variable‑aperture main camera, and an upgraded vapor‑chamber cooling system. Apple claims the new battery matches the iPhone 17 Pro Max’s endurance, and real‑world testing shows users ending the day with roughly 60 percent charge, eliminating frequent top‑ups. The main camera now offers an ƒ/1.48‑ƒ/1.8 aperture range that delivers noticeably better photos in auto mode, a rare substantive upgrade to the primary sensor compared with recent focus on telephoto and ultra‑wide lenses. Finally, the vapor chamber keeps the device cool during prolonged outdoor use, preventing the thermal throttling that plagued earlier models and ensuring consistent performance in bright, warm conditions.

💡 The combination of longer unplugged use, superior imaging, and reliable performance in heat makes the iPhone 18 Pro a compelling upgrade for current iPhone owners, reinforcing Apple’s strategy of incremental yet impactful hardware refinements.
