Samsung reportedly slashes production plans for millions of Galaxy phones

Samsung announced a 20% reduction in production of its Galaxy A line, cutting roughly 10 million units, as part of a strategy to reallocate resources toward flagship models. The move follows rising memory and chipset costs that now account for about half of mid‑range device expenses. Production cuts will continue into 2027, with further reductions planned for the next year. The decision comes amid losses in Samsung’s Mobile Communications division and reflects a shift toward higher‑margin products.

💡 The cut signals a pivot away from Samsung’s most popular mid‑range segment, potentially reshaping the competitive landscape for affordable smartphones and affecting supply chains for key components.

Moto Tag 2 brings its UWB and Android Find Hub integration back…

Motorola has reduced the price of its Moto Tag 2 tracker to $19.99, restoring its earlier $20 level after a brief promotion pause. The device remains the sole Android Find Hub tracker that combines UWB precise locating with Bluetooth, and it now boasts improved battery life and compatibility with AirTag accessories. A single unit is sold at $19.99 on Motorola.com and Amazon, while a four‑pack costs $69.99, offering the exclusive orange “Arabesque” color. Google is preparing a $30 Pixel Tag, but it lacks AirTag accessory support.

💡 The price cut makes the Moto Tag 2 the most affordable UWB‑enabled Android tracker, potentially shifting consumer preference away from competing brands and influencing the broader smart‑tracking market.

OPPO Find 10 Pro Max review: the best Android phone ever made

OPPO’s Find X10 Pro Max has been hailed as the most complete Android smartphone to date. The device packs a triple‑camera system, each sensor 200 MP, delivering exceptional stills and video, while a revamped teleconverter kit improves zoom performance. Power is supplied by an 8,000 mAh battery that can act as a power bank and lasts multiple days, complemented by 80 W fast charging and the MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro chipset. The phone features a QHD AMOLED display with a 144 Hz refresh rate, IP68/69 dust‑ and water‑resistance, and ColorOS 17 software. Launching globally, the Find X10 Pro Max starts at £1,499/€1,799, making it one of the priciest non‑folding flagships, though promotional bundles and trade‑in offers are available. Six‑year software updates further cement its premium positioning today.

Google says Gemini 4 Argon ranks well behind Claude and GPT-6 for…

Google refreshed its Android Bench, a ranking that measures AI models’ ability to assist Android developers, adding new entries and cost data on October 26. The updated list includes OpenAI’s GPT‑6 Sol, GPT‑6.1 Sol, Anthropic‑style Claude Sonnet 5 and 5.5, and Google’s Gemini 4 Argon. Claude Sonnet 5.5 leads with a 40 % pass rate and 80.9 % completion rate, while Claude Opus 5.5 follows. GPT‑6.1 Sol posts a 29.3 % pass rate, 82.8 % completion rate and a $99.50 average cost, far cheaper than Claude’s $1,574.90. Gemini 4 Argon falls to fifth place with a 21.3 % pass rate, 81.8 % completion rate and $267.70 cost, lagging behind Claude Fable 5.1. Internal sources say the model “struggles to handle certain coding tasks,” though Google defends its performance. Developers can compare efficiency pricing for tool selection.

💡 The stark gap between Google’s own model and leading competitors highlights the difficulty of matching external AI advances, pushing developers toward third‑party solutions for superior coding assistance.

uCreator Android Spyware Can Steal Telegram 2FA Passwords and Clone WeChat Accounts

A rent‑a‑spyware kit named uCreator embeds malicious code in counterfeit copies of Telegram and WeChat, allowing attackers to hijack accounts, steal Telegram two‑factor authentication passwords, and clone WeChat sessions. The kit’s Telegram module matches the Baohuo backdoor previously reported by Doctor Web, sharing the same namespace (com.ucreator.tgjar), C2 server and command set. Infections spread via sideloaded APKs, fake app‑store sites targeting Portuguese‑speaking Brazil and Indonesian users, and a container app called “Onion Box” that runs other apps inside it. By running with the victim app’s identity, the malware can query message databases, exfiltrate phone numbers, names and passwords, and conceal attacker sessions. Samples dated July 2026 still use an older hooking engine, but the threat persists across Android 16–17 devices, with victims reported in China, the United States, India, Brazil and Indonesia.

💡 By capturing clear‑text 2FA passwords, the kit bypasses Telegram’s strongest user protection, giving attackers full control over high‑value messaging accounts and the ability to silently monitor or commandeer communications.
