Apple is set to unveil a refreshed MacBook Pro line in late October‑November 2026, featuring the company’s first touchscreen laptops equipped with Samsung‑supplied OLED panels. The 14‑inch and 16‑inch models will retain the March‑2026 M5 Pro and M5 Max silicon, offering up to 18 CPU cores, 40 GPU cores and up to 128 GB of unified memory, while shedding weight and thickness through a slimmer chassis. A pill‑shaped Dynamic Island replaces the traditional notch, and macOS 27.2 adds [...]

Industry insiders expect the announcement at an event on October 13, though mysterious boxes placed in Apple stores suggest the product could be revealed as early as October 8. The new hardware, tentatively dubbed “HomePad” by the press, would mark Apple’s entry into a market dominated by Amazon’s Echo and Google’s Nest, expanding [...]

Ninja Theory is facing redundancy as Xbox’s ongoing restructuring leads to layoffs after two failed sale attempts. The studio, known for Hellblade, had been slated for transfer to a new owner, but agreements collapsed, prompting a consultation process and potential closure. Employees, including key designers and programmers, have posted on LinkedIn expressing sadness and gratitude. The situation underscores uncertainty for Xbox‑owned studios amid a broader 3,200‑job cut plan announced in July.

New iOS 27 beta code reveals a subtle Focus Mode redesign for the iPhone Duo. The lock‑screen button will switch Focus Mode on or off with a single tap, replacing the current wide button that opens settings. The text label will be removed, leaving only the icon. On the unlocked outer screen, the icon moves above the clock, while the clock shifts right to accommodate a repositioned Dock. These tweaks address the Duo’s smaller, squat outer display. [...]

Apple’s macOS 27 Golden Gate resolves a long‑standing issue with third‑party HDR displays. In macOS 26 Tahoe, users could enable HDR only at 1920 × 1080, forcing a trade‑off between resolution and HDR. The new release allows HDR to be activated while selecting scaled resolutions such as 2560 × 1440, improving image quality on displays like Dell’s 32‑inch UltraSharp U3226Q. The fix is native, requiring no third‑party software, though some hardware models may still lack full support.
