Xbox had much bigger plans for Halo 2 and 3 remakes before…

Xbox’s Halo Studios had outlined expansive remakes for Halo 2 and Halo 3, dubbed “Project Manihi,” before a wave of layoffs halted the projects. The studio surveyed fans, demanding features such as dual‑wielding, full multiplayer, Forge, Firefight, and new bonus missions, aiming to surpass the minimal content of Halo: Campaign Evolved. Halo 3 was to be the flagship remake, integrating lessons from the earlier titles and planned to launch alongside a new mainline Halo game. The layoffs effectively canceled these plans, leaving the remakes unrealized.

💡 The cancellation signals a shift in Microsoft’s strategy for the Halo franchise, potentially affecting fan expectations and the broader gaming community’s perception of the brand’s future.

Microsoft wants to change Outlook Classic’s UI to look more like New…

Microsoft announced that Outlook Classic for Windows will receive a visual refresh beginning in early November 2026, aligning its icons, spacing, fonts and alignment with the New Outlook design while preserving existing workflows and menu placements. The update, detailed in an Admin Center post and reported by Windows Latest, is the first UI change for the legacy client in years and is part of a broader effort to reduce visual disparity across Outlook products. Microsoft also released a “Classic” theme for New Outlook that mimics the older interface, allowing users to retain familiar elements while using the newer platform. The company stresses that no features will be removed and that further visual tweaks are planned, though no opt‑out option is offered.

💡 By blurring the visual line between the two clients, Microsoft hopes to coax reluctant Classic users toward the newer, cloud‑centric Outlook without forcing a functional overhaul. This dual‑theme strategy could accelerate migration while keeping enterprise users satisfied with a familiar look.

What will the next generation of developers do when AI writes the…

Microsoft and Carnegie Mellon University have launched PRAISE, a Preceptorship for AI‑accelerated Software Engineering program that pairs junior engineers with senior mentors to teach responsible AI‑assisted development. The initiative adapts the nursing preceptorship model, giving newcomers hands‑on experience in design, architecture, and critical judgment while using AI tools for code generation. PRAISE combines corporate practice with university curriculum, ensuring that junior staff learn to evaluate AI‑produced code, test assumptions, and make decisions about what to build. The program emphasizes systems thinking, accountability, and the transition from writing code to guiding product direction, positioning junior developers as future senior engineers who can oversee AI‑driven workflows safely and effectively.

💡 It equips the next wave of engineers with the judgment needed to steer AI‑generated software, preventing unchecked automation from compromising product quality.

“674M views and they still don’t get the message”: Windows 10 users…

Microsoft’s most‑watched Windows YouTube video, a promotional clip urging users to upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11, has amassed 674 million views since October 31 2025—about 48 times the 14 million views of the official “Introducing Windows 11” launch video. The comment section reveals widespread frustration: many users cannot meet Windows 11’s hardware prerequisites such as TPM 2.0, UEFI Secure Boot, and newer CPUs, while others cite higher RAM consumption and persistent bugs. Microsoft acknowledges Windows 11’s memory demands and is working on optimisations. Additional pain points include a mandatory Microsoft account during setup, increased upsell prompts, and the loss of familiar features like a freely movable taskbar. These factors explain why a substantial portion of the billion‑plus Windows desktop base remains on Windows 10 despite Microsoft’s push.

💡 Users’ resistance highlights a gap between Microsoft’s upgrade narrative and the practical constraints of existing hardware and workflow preferences.

Windows 11 gets faster, more connected and easier to use

Microsoft announced a rollout of Windows 11 updates that promise up to 20 % faster responsiveness across components such as Start, File Explorer, Search, Snipping Tool, Microsoft 365 and Edge. The improvements stem from tighter memory management, allowing PCs with 8 GB RAM to retain an extra 2 GB of active data in memory and freeing more than 200 MB on low‑memory devices by loading Widgets on demand. Additional tweaks reduce background memory use, accelerate Bluetooth headphone pairing by up to 15 seconds, and speed Windows Hello authentication. The update also gives users more control over Start‑menu placement, taskbar location and update scheduling, while the Driver Quality Initiative aims to boost driver stability. These changes are being delivered to the Windows Insider community before general release.

💡 By shaving latency on everyday tasks, the update turns PCs that previously felt sluggish into genuinely productive tools, especially for budget machines with 8 GB RAM.
