This project allows you to connect an Apple Watch to Android, Linux,…

The Apple Watch Connector project, developed by the vibe-coded team, has created a tool that enables the Apple Watch to complete its full setup process without an iPhone. By reconstructing Apple’s standard pairing and activation flow, the watch can connect, finish setup, and remain linked to non‑Apple devices such as Android, Linux, and Windows. The prototype is still in early stages and requires specific hardware, but it demonstrates a potential workaround for users outside the Apple ecosystem.

💡 This breakthrough challenges the long‑standing Apple‑centric lock‑in, offering a practical alternative for users who prefer or need non‑Apple platforms.

Pocket Casts app now available on Android TV

Pocket Casts has launched a native Android TV and Google TV app, following its earlier debut on Apple TV. The new version syncs users’ accounts via QR code, mirroring the Apple TV interface and offering a “Made for TV” section for video podcasts. Playback continues in the background, and queued episodes appear as quick links for seamless switching. Availability required a few weeks of rollout, and users may need to install the app through the Play Store manually.

💡 By extending its platform to Android TV, Pocket Casts taps a growing smart‑TV audience, enhancing podcast accessibility beyond mobile devices. This move positions the service as a competitive player in the expanding home‑media ecosystem.

Hirudo Android Trojan Uses Patched Banking Apps to Bypass Their Built-In Security…

Researchers have uncovered a new Android banking trojan, Hirudo, that replaces legitimate banking apps with patched copies engineered to bypass internal security checks. ThreatFabric identified eight compromised Indonesian banking apps and noted the malware’s reach extends to users in Indonesia, China, India, Mexico, Morocco and Thailand. Delivered via seemingly benign shopping, adult video and entertainment apps, Hirudo appears as an in‑app update, installs as a separate package, and then gains accessibility and notification permissions. It employs a fake VPN to hinder online reputation checks, while still vulnerable to offline detection by Google Play Protect. The trojan can steal credentials, capture screens and camera feeds, intercept SMS, and grant remote control, using a leaked attestation keybox to spoof Play Integrity and other anti‑tampering mechanisms.

💡 By hijacking the banking app itself, Hirudo sidesteps the very defenses users trust, turning a legitimate financial interface into a covert data‑exfiltration channel.

Android 17 could soon fix your phone’s Wi-Fi and mobile data problems…

Google is adding new diagnostic utilities to Pixel phones that target call quality, Wi‑Fi and mobile‑data problems. The features appear in the Device Health & Support menu of Android 17 QPR3 Beta 1 and the accompanying Google Play Services beta. Users can launch a specific test, which scans system logs and network settings, then either automatically applies a fix or provides step‑by‑step instructions. Existing Pixel tools already cover battery, Bluetooth and touchscreen health, and the expansion aims to reduce the need for manual resets and settings tweaks. The utilities are currently limited to the beta build but are expected to roll out in the stable Android 17 QPR3 update slated for early next year. It will log recurring issues for updates.

💡 Automated diagnostics could cut support calls and keep users online longer.

Google Play adding ‘personal library’ to access your vibe-coded Android apps

Google Play announced a series of updates, most notably the introduction of a “Personal Library” that lets users launch and manage AI‑generated Android apps directly from the Play Store. The feature, available in the U.S. and select markets, allows private sharing and secure storage of these apps, with a future path to professional developer status. Additional updates include Game Finder’s “Gamer DNA” for personalized game discovery, social competitions, and expanded sports content.

💡 By integrating AI‑generated apps into the Play Store, Google blurs the line between personal and commercial app ecosystems, potentially reshaping how developers and users interact with proprietary software.

Chrome 155 for Googlebook brings expanded web app installs, integration

Google released Chrome 155 for Googlebooks, the Chrome variant that offers features. The update removes the previous restriction that only sites with a proper web‑app manifest could be installed, allowing users to manually install any webpage as an app from the browser. Installed apps now appear in the launcher, can be pinned to the taskbar or homescreen, and inherit the shared Google Account login, cookies, site permissions and extensions. Google advises users to delete older browser‑tab shortcuts before reinstalling. Additionally, Chrome Settings is no longer forced into full‑screen mode on mobile; it opens in a separate tab, making it easier to reference pages while adjusting preferences. Version 155.0.8059.79 is rolling out via the Play Store and is on tested devices.

💡 Enabling any webpage to run as a standalone app gives developers a frictionless route to reach users across devices, effectively turning the web into a universal app platform.
