Apple raises trade-in values for iPads and Macs, with increases of up…

Apple increased trade‑in values for iPads and most Macs, the second adjustment in two months, while reducing iPhone payouts. Apple knows the iPad mini market, but internet unimpressed by 60Hz

Apple unveiled its latest iPad mini, touting a new OLED display, thinner chassis, and the A20 Pro chip with dual 16‑core neural engines. The 8.5‑inch panel offers double the peak brightness and higher contrast, while the device gains water‑dust resistance, a 12‑MP Center Stage camera, Acoustic Display, and fast‑charge support. Despite these upgrades, the refresh rate remains at 60 Hz, sparking criticism from reviewers who note competitors offer 120‑Hz or higher panels. The omission highlights a trade‑off between cost and performance.

💡 The decision to keep a 60‑Hz display signals Apple’s prioritization of business users over gamers and tech enthusiasts, potentially narrowing its appeal in a market where high refresh rates are becoming standard.

iPhone 18 Pro sales beat iPhone 17 Pro figures, but only because…

Counterpoint Research reports that the iPhone 18 Pro’s global sales rose 3.1% over the iPhone 17 Pro, driven largely by a 29% year‑over‑year increase in China during the first three weeks after launch. Apple’s larger initial inventory and a decline in local Android sales boosted demand in China, offsetting weaker performance in the U.S. (down 4%) and Japan (down 27%). The iPhone 18 Pro Max dominated sales worldwide, accounting for 56% of units sold. The study cautions that China’s surge may be front‑loaded and its durability remains uncertain.

💡 The data reveal how regional dynamics can mask global sales trends, underscoring the importance of market‑specific strategies for flagship products.
