AI-summarised brief · reviewed before publication

Acer released its Predator Atlas 8 handheld on October 23, pre‑selling at $1,299.99 before a full launch on November 1. The device uses Intel’s Arc G3 Extreme mobile chip, matching MSI’s Claw 8 EX AI+ but with 24 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD, and a lighter build. Acer’s lower price stems from reduced memory and storage, while both units share an 8‑inch IPS display, Thunderbolt 4, Wi‑Fi 7, and Hall‑effect triggers. The Atlas sold out immediately, prompting a restock announcement for the original MSRP.

💡 Why It Matters

· The Atlas’s rapid sell‑out signals renewed consumer interest in handheld gaming, challenging AMD‑centric dominance.

Rian Johnson’s Chromagraph Camera app brings his cinematic style to your iPhone…

Director Rian Johnson has released Chromagraph Camera, an iPhone photography app that replaces Apple’s native image pipeline with the custom color, tone, grain and halation processing used on his films such as “Knives Out” and “The Last Jedi.” Developed with cinematographer Steve Yedlin and programmer Eric Cameron, the app captures RAW data, bypasses the phone’s built‑in rendering, and offers adjustable controls for the cinematic look. Priced at a one‑time $12.99, Chromagraph aims to give hobbyists a Hollywood‑style aesthetic without requiring post‑capture editing. Early reviewers note the result is strikingly familiar to blockbuster visuals but may feel overly stylized for users who prefer a neutral base. The app positions itself as a point‑and‑shoot alternative to more complex tools like Halide.

💡 It brings professional film‑grade processing to consumer smartphones, blurring the line between mobile snapshots and cinematic imagery.

Apple’s touchscreen MacBook Pro pushes laptop pricing to a new extreme

Apple unveiled a touchscreen MacBook Pro line, with base pricing at $2,899 and fully configured 16‑inch models reaching $14,549. A nano‑texture glass finish costs an extra $150. Compared with the previous 16‑inch MacBook Pro’s $10,149 ceiling, the new range lifts the price ceiling by $4,400. Some Pixel Watch users report a sudden decrease in battery life

Reports on Reddit and other forums indicate that some Pixel Watch owners are seeing a sudden drop in battery endurance, with drains up to 20 percent every few hours. Users of the Pixel Watch 2 claim a full charge now yields roughly 12 hours of use instead of the advertised 48‑hour span, while Pixel Watch 4 owners report a reduction from 2.5‑day typical life to under one day. The complaints surfaced after Google’s September 2026 software rollout, which introduced Gemini Personalization and a Google Health activity‑tracking update. Although the issue is not universal and timing varies, the correlation with the latest update has prompted speculation that new background processes are taxing the watches’ batteries. Google has not confirmed the problem as of now.

💡 Power‑hungry AI features could erode user confidence in Google’s wearable ecosystem, pressuring the company to prioritize efficiency in future updates.
